Bird flu in people is rare.

If you feel unwell after contact with birds or other animals, see your GP and tell them about any possible contact with a sick or dead bird.

People who work with birds, poultry or wildlife may have a higher chance of coming into contact with bird flu.

If you work with poultry, we recommend you get a flu vaccine every year. This can help stop you getting bird flu and human flu at the same time .

Notify the Western Public Health Unit (WPHU) of any suspected avian influenza by calling 1300 651 160, 24 hours a day, seven days.
