Population Health

Sexual and reproductive health

Sexual and reproductive health is an important part of population health, as it deeply impacts the health, social, and economic wellbeing of communities.

Ensuring access to sexual and reproductive health services and improving health outcomes are critical markers of achieving health equity.

The Western Public Health Unit (WPHU) works with key stakeholders in Melbourne’s central and western suburbs to deliver positive sexual health change to our communities and to strengthen health systems within our catchment.

WPHU does this by:

  • Analysing trends and patterns of sexually transmitted infections and blood-borne virus infection rates across Melbourne’s central and western suburbs.
  • Promoting sexual and reproductive health services within all local government areas in the WPHU catchment.
