Population health
A year of action for healthier communities across Melbourne’s west
Across Melbourne’s west, healthier communities are being supported through strong partnerships and practical local action.
Over the past year, the Western Public Health Unit (WPHU) has worked with local councils, community organisations, health services and other partners across three priority areas: healthier eating and food systems, reducing vaping and tobacco-related harm, and climate change and health.
Our Population Health Promotion 2025-2026 Annual Report highlights what we have achieved together over the past year, including 16 key projects, 419 coordinated activities and work with 130 organisations across Melbourne’s west.
The report shares examples of this work in action:
- Food First in the West
- Vape Free West
- Climate and Health action
- WPHU Action Guide to support local and municipal public health and wellbeing planning
- Culturally responsive INFANT resources.

Read the Population Health Promotion 2025-2026 Annual Report to learn more about the projects, partnerships and achievements from the past year.
We thank our partners across Melbourne’s west for their contribution to this work and their continued commitment to healthier communities.
